The weather has changed, it's a beautiful warm Saturday. What a great day to lay in the hammock and chew on a cell phone.

Eating solid food (happily)
Fae has been partially on a solid food diet since about mid-March (around 5 months.) Since then, we have gotten her to eat:
rice cereal
bananas
pears
applesauce (organic: apples, water, ascorbic acid/vitamin c)
NEW: squash!
We currently have her eating 3 meals a day: breakfast 8am, lunch 12pm and dinner 7pm!
She is still on breastmilk and takes 3 bottles during the day with her nanny, Jackie. I still breastfeed in the morning (7-8am) and evening (5-6pm, 9pm, midnight.)
I just went wild at the grocery store and bought her a bunch of those 4 oz jars of 1 ingredient baby food: sweet potatoes, peas, squash, green beans and carrots. These will be introduced gradually over the next month or so with strict observance of the 4-day rule (trying a food out for 4 days before moving on to the next!)
I also have all the equipment to start making the babyfood fresh to freeze it at home, but I figured I try all this out to see what she likes first before doing that. I'd hate to make a big batch of peas or green beans only to find out that should won't touch it.

Airport hell
We leave the house at 6am ET to catch our 7:45am flight. Curbside check-in can't check us in since the flight is delayed. When we get to the gate they think we'll be leaving at 9am, they tell us they are waiting for a part from LaGuardia. At 9am they still don't know what's wrong or if they can fix it, the part they are still waiting on is to diagnose the problem. At 10am they announce that the flight is canceled due to Hydraulic problems. Fae has been trooper and even caught a nap throughout the delay. Most of the people get in line or head to the counters, we call United directly. We get on a 1:30pm flight to Chicago, that's 7 hours after we got to Newark airport. We should have been in SF by now! Now we had to get our seats and find our luggage. The system couldn't find our new reservation so back on the phone with United. Once that was resolved we had to make sure our luggage got to SF. The rep at the counter put a request in for our bags to be transfered. We weren't feeling confident that our luggage would make it. When we went downstairs to baggage claim we found our bags on the carousel and one United rep looking quite overwhelmed. We had to pull our own bags and get them to the baggage rep, if we didn't who knows where they would have ended up.
We got to have lunch with Saba along with some backup diapers while we waited for our next flight.
The flight to Chicago was nice because we got to fly in first class. We all slept for most of the flight.
We had a 2 hour layover in Chicago and were delayed on the runway for about 20/30 mins. When we finally get to SFO @ 8pm. While waiting for the luggage to come out we spot one of our bags by the United baggage counter. Turned out our luggage got there before we did. How did that happen??
We finally got home at 9:30pm PT. Exhausted!

Snowing in April, and more Shopping
Yesterday it was nice, 60's and partly sunny. Today it snowed in Manhattan. Here's the view from our room at the Manhattan Club; pretty wild for an April day.
We headed out to my (Daddy's) old neighborhood, Gramercy Park/Curry Hill, for some lunch. When we got to our destination we found our spot (Aiello's) was closed due to a fire. We ended up at a Vietnamese restaurant, L'annan, that was run by Chinese; not entirely uncommon since there are a lot of Chinese in Vietnam. The thing that gave it away for was when the waitress asked if Tina wanted "FO" (instead of "pho" which is pronounced "phuh").
I only ate here once when I was living a few blocks away, wasn't bad. I just love the name, Curry in a Hurry.

Shopping and Gray's Papaya
Today we cruised Manhattan to do some shopping. We headed downtown to Century 21 and found some good deals on baby stuff. We had lunch in the Village at one of daddy's favorite places (back in the day) ... Gray's Papaya.
Since we only had a couple of Hot dogs we headed off to seek another NYC culinary delight at Ben's pizza on Mcdougal and W 3rd St. Mommy had the Jamaican Beef Patty and Daddy had a slice of NY pizza. We cruised through Washington Square park too.
After lunch we headed down Broadway to do some window shopping.

Time Warner Center and resting
Today we headed to the Time Warner center at Columbus Circle. We walked around the mall, bought a NYC Guide book at Border's, and got some food at Whole Foods. All in the same building!
Since it was raining and yucky the rest of the day we decided to stay indoors in our room and hang out with Fae. Her cold seemed to have gotten a little worse.
