Dim Sum and the SF Conservatory of Flowers

Today Fae went to Dim Sum and the SF Conservatory of Flowers with Cousins Alice, Hank , and Sarah. The conservatory had an orchid exibit, The Modern Art of Orchids, which was really great for Fae (and Daddy's hobbie in photography - enjoy the orchids). She really enjoyed the entire day even though it was cold and wet outside.

Teething??

Fae has been crying inconsolably today and all this behavior over the last few weeks is leading us to believe she is teething!
  • Unable to sleep through the night -- gets up every 1-2 hours for the past few weeks!
  • Urge to chew on anything placed in her mouth (fingers, bibs, blanket)
  • Chewing/sucking on fists
  • Excessive drooling/salivating
Last night I woke up to catch her hitting herself in the head with her hand! And just today, I felt her gumline and do feel evidence of her top incisors coming in.

I sent an email message the her Pediatrician, but I'm not sure I need his confirmation. As soon as Yoel gets home, we will head to the drugstore to (hopefully) find some Hyland's Teething Tablets. I'll try that with some infant Tylenol tonight.

Fae sneezes

Brunch @ Chouchou (Mat's Bday)

The drool is on

Fae's "new thing" is to drool. She's at that stage where she's making more saliva than what she knows to do with, her shirts are constantly soaked. In this series of photos she's also grunting and squeezing something out. The bumbo is like an instant laxative.

Family Appreciation Day

Today was San Francisco Family Appreciation Day. The Mayor and the City of San Francisco treated all San francisco families with FREE admittance to attractions inside the city. Lydia, Ben, and Amelia joined us to the California Academy of Sciences and the San Francisco Zoo. Fae and Amelia got to see lots of fish up close at the Academy, a little too close at times. The girls were pooped and the parents were hungry so we headed to Mel's Drive-In for some lunch. The girls were kind enough to sleep through most of lunch.

Off to the zoo, where the girls slept for most of the time while we cruised the park and ate kettle corn.

The day ended with dinner at our place. Today we a tremendous success with how the girls did), we all had a great time.

PS - We forgot our camera, but maybe Ben and Lydia may have some that we could post.

Save Daniel Webster

Fae and Yoel attended today's meeting with Board of Education member Sarah Lipson. It was meeting for us, the parents and community of Potrero Hill, to talk to Sarah about our concerns over the closure of Daniel Webster Elementary.

A packed house, lots of kids. Lots of energy from the parents. It's really great to have this community. I went with my next door neighbor anad his daughter Lily.

DHA Supplements

So, in the last few months of pregnancy, my OB told me it would be a good idea to start taking DHA supplements to aid in Fae's brain development. I wasn't clear on what DHA was or how it worked; I just listened to my doctor :)

I find out that this supplement is fairly expensive (about $15 per 30 capsules, a one month supply) but I do it anyway. Yoel and I (as have others) have been noticing Fae's above average development. Although, we can't scientifically attribute any developmental progress to the DHA supplements (I continue to take them while I nurse), nor can we confirm she is developmentally advanced, I will continue to take the DHA supplements while I breastfeed because, well, it can't hurt, right?

Here's the latest news article on the benefits of DHA: http://www.newswise.com/articles/view/514737/

Happy New Year! (@ Karen and Drew's Party)

New Year's Eve was a big day for Fae (and her parents). We planned on camping that night @ Karen and Drew's place (in the Westy, in the Fitting driveway). Took us a few hours to gather everything and pack up the van. The day of visiting folks started in Belmont, visiting at Astrid and Thad's. Next we were off to Milpitas to have dinner with Tina's cousins: Yen, Axel, and Kevin, and some friends. Final stop was Karen and Drew's place in Fremont. Fae did extremelly well; she loved the people and the partying! In fact, she was so energized from it that she didn't want to go to sleep. Fae was a hit, as you'll see ...

This photo was taken at 5 minutes after midnight.
